Postal News: Governors Appointed

In one of its final actions before recessing for the month of August, the Senate approved the nominations of three individuals to serve on the USPS Board of Governors (BOG), the body tasked with making business decisions and setting long-term vision for the Postal Service. This is significant because it marks the first time the BOG has had a functioning quorum of five governors since 2014. All three nominees spoke to the need to address the financial challenges of the Postal Service along with maintaining universal service delivery. Also confirmed was Ashley Poling to serve as a Commissioner on the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC). Poling most recently managed postal reform policy for former Senator Heidi Heitkamp. She joins fellow PRC Commissioner Ann Fisher, who previously worked in the same capacity for Senator Susan Collins.
