Newly Merged SGIA & PIA Becomes PRINTING United Alliance

The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) and Printing Industries of America (PIA), merged on May 1, 2020, today (May 7, 2020) announce the new organization name as a combined company: PRINTING United Alliance. PRINTING United Alliance also announces its official board of directors as a merged entity.

“PRINTING United Alliance is a reflection of the invaluable partnerships and industry convergence that has evolved over time,” says Ford Bowers, President and CEO, PRINTING United Alliance. “The organization name seemed an obvious choice to many as our North Star points to the industry continuing to come together and strengthening to ensure future growth and longevity.”

Sample COVID-19 Policy Employee Responsibilities

Gary Jones, Adriane Harrison, and the PRINTING United Alliance team wrote up a new sample policy. It is written in a manner that informs employees their responsibilities. This could be helpful for employees to understand what they have to do in various circumstances. It lists the symptoms that would trigger action on their part (i.e. requesting leave). This is posted on the HR COVID-19 page or the COVID-19 Safety Updates page. Keep up-to-date with resources on the ongoing COVID-19 situation at PRINTING United Alliances COVID-19 website

SPECIAL NOTE from Paul Gutkowski, PIM’s Director of Safety & Environmental:

This policy is helpful – but in Minnesota you need a written COVID-19 Preparedness Plan. This sample policy will not meet the requirement in MN. This requirement was part of a prior email sent on Friday, April 24, 2020 and is posted on the PIM COVID-19 webpage. You can talk to Paul Gutkowski or Cathy Malinowski if you have any additional questions.
