Direct EHS or OSHA questions to Paul Gutkowski or Cathy Malinoski

OSHA published Using Leading Indicators to Improve Safety and Health Outcomes, that may be found here. Leading indicators are predictive measures that provide information about the performance of your safety activities. They measure events leading up to injuries and reveal potential problems in your safety program.

OSHA has also provided a response to the question, is online training sufficient? Their response is NO unless there is an opportunity for workers to ask questions from a qualified trainer.  One way to cover this with online training would be to provide a telephone hotline so workers have direct access to the qualified trainer during the online training. You can find the entire letter on this issue here. Another very effective option is to provide interactive training like the approach PIM takes. If you would like to know more about that approach, contact PIM.
